Heritage Alliance of Northeast Tennessee & Southwest Virginia

Community History Award: In a town specializing in history and storytelling, the Heritage Alliance has found yet another way to share history with the public. Not Your Ordinary Dinner Party consists of a delicious meal and world premiere play on the grounds of one of Jonesborough’s most historic homes. The play features true stories of triumph and tragedy from Washington County’s history. Proceeds benefit their educational programming.

Award of Distinction: A Spot on the Hill is an original, research-based play featuring “real stories of real people in a real cemetery.” In two years, the popular program has created new community awareness and an interest in history and has raised $2,000 for cemetery preservation.
