This Day In East Tennessee History

April 24, 1776
On this day in 1776, Henry Stuart and his men arrived in Chota. He and Alexander Cameron found the Cherokee chiefs almost as incensed as Dragging Canoe over white trespassing. The two officials offered to communicate these concerns to the settlers and asked the Indians to keep the peace in the meantime.
